Question Ground hawgs vs. Swampers

Well I am ready to buy my new tires but I cant decide between 40" Hawgs or 39.5 swampers? Can anyone help me with the goods and bads of the Hawgs? I have ran swampers and like them. Also does anyone know the actual height dimension differences between the two! And will the hawgs fit on 10.5" of lift ?
thanks again as always guys!!!!!!!

I have run neither but know a few who have run the Hawgs and they seen to like them,,I know rollnxl has Hawgs he can tell you about them.

CLICK HERE and select the Hawgs(Bias Ply) to see the specs.

CLICK HERE to see the specs for the TSL.

The TSL is a little taller, and you can get the TSL with a higher load rating. I think that the Hawgs are a little wider.

It would be close with 10.5" of lift. I don't know

you'll be pushing it with 39.5s.... i know a couple of guys with 39.5s and 11" of lift and they say the tires rub.... mine with 38" TSL/Rs (really 37.1") come VERY close to hitting at full upward flex (i.e less than an inch).

so.... i think you can fit them no problem, but put her in the dirt and i'll guess you will have some sheet metal blemishes.

i'd bet that with the tires i am running, you would clear with a scrape (i.e no damage to the sheet metal, but maybe some minor paint loss from rubbing)

as for the hawgs.... go with the tire you like looks wise, i think they are both good preformers.

the hawgs if i remember correctly are a wider tire, so you will need 12" wide rims for those... the swampers will fit on a 9.75" rim.

i'd also be that teh wider rim will cause you further clearance problems too.

I already run 12" rims. and you are right the 39's will be close but for my purposes will work. I have talked to a few guys who run 39.5 boggers on 10.5" lift and only had to shim out the bumper they stay on pavement of course! as for the hawgs they measure 1/2" shorter than the boggers with the same width. In anycase I am pretty stuck on the swampers! was just curious on what you guys thought about the hawgs!
thanks

I'd go with the Swampers... But that would be based on personal preference only! I have had both in the past and I prefer the look of the Swampers over the Hawgs. Performance was about the same... but I don't care for 'directional tires much'!

Ground hawgs vs. Swampers

i've run both tires,,, i guess my deciding factor was that i do alot of highway driving. the hawgs are by far a better highway tire, though i do give an edge to the swampers in the mud. with 10.5" of lift you will end up banging the back of the fender everytime you make right turns into driveways. the problem is not the bumper, because under compression the axle moves up and back. just as an added note... if i get a decent offer, my 14" National Springs & 40" ground hawgs will be for sale. they have been on the truck for 6 months and about 5000 miles. i paid 3000 for the springs and 1400 for the tires. 2300 obo.....thanks JON

Please put me on your list of interested people, though I'd need to visit with you about some details to decide (as well as find out if thing are going to go well with the IRS!)
