Exhaust ?

I was under my truck this morning and noticed a black cylinder mounted to the exhaust just as it goes horizontal from the back of the engine. The only thing I saw attached to it was a cable that was tied to the exhaust. I could not think of a function for this. Any ideas?

6.4s had that too. My guess was its some kind of vibration dampner.

that is all it is, to take some of the noise and vibration out.
