Although we are only a few months into 2012, since the 11's were introduced earlier than normal, it "feels" like we are ready to start hearing about the '12s. All we've seen thus far is info on when the '12 order bank potentially opens, and the last order/build dates for the MY11's. I get the whole position around not releasing info too early, which could impact current MY sales, just hoping we get some glimpse into possible changes soon. Any little tidbits would be nice
Ford F-250 Super Duty For 2012 - Evolution Not Revolution. Ford continues to produce the number one selling vehicle. Ford pickup trucks from the F-150 through the heavy duty F-450 Super Duty out perform all the competitors.
Speculation
The 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck will be released in late 2011. The truck will be an evolution of earlier models of the Ford truck line and no serious changes or modifications are expected. Although Ford has not released solid details of the 2012 model the indications have been that the model lineup will continue in the same basic body style for the 2012 year. Minor changes in options and grill and lighting may be made to distinguish models from previous ones. Any rumors that the F-250 Super Duty will arrive along the lines of the Super Chief Show Truck shown at the recent auto show are premature. The departure would too radical at this time. There is some credence to the rumors that a new tri powered truck will be available named the Tri Power F-250 Super Chief. This vehicle may be able to run on several different fuels however no confirmation has been made by Ford at this time.
Body
The body styles for 2012 will remain the same for the F-250 Super Duty. A basic truck with two doors will be available as a base model. Other models will include a club cab and crew cab with four doors.
Thank you Shelby, a little information is better than no information. If there are lighting changes, sure would be nice to see the HID/projector option in the Lariat & above, maybe interior ambient lighting, etc.
I'd be curious as to what the changes are with the 2012's also.
I think the changes will be more subtle than can be easily detected - material and part changes. I suppose there could be a few small styling changes such as the mentioned lights. I don't think we will see any big differences - such as a modification to the design of the engine (other than maybe a material/process change here or there) or a major styling change (such as the fenders on the DRW's, I do agree though those things are butt ugly. I'm not even a fan of the exaggerated fenders on the SRW's, look better than those DRW's though).
Going back to the last generation some changes that were made had to do with the radiator/cooling system, DPF's, and one you would notice inside - the trailer break controller (they put the display on the dash and took off the display on the controller itself). I don't think we will see any changes like that from 2011 to 2012 - so far things seem pretty good with the launch of the 6.7 and with all that the new displays do it is hard to imagine anything else going in to that thing.
Still searching for info on 2012's but still kinda early. I'm hoping they will offer the Lariat Ultimate Package and Nav in the chassis cabs ( still not in the 11's right???). Then I could order a 450 cc, put a bed on it and have a real 450 with the heavier axles/tires, and a 4.10 rear end.
Chassis cabs are narrower, but they are able to custom mount pick up beds to them. They did it mainly before the 2008 model year. To do it correctly you also have to move the axle forward 4" and cut off the back few inches of the frame. A lot of work (and $$$), which is why the 2008 intro of 450 pu was so exciting.
I was told by a friend, he works for ford covering dealers and their customer satisfaction stuff for over 60 dealers, to expect soon a change to the nav screen and radio to mimic the F150. I normally don't pay to much attention to 'expect' and I buy 4-7 trucks annually with our personal two being an F150 Plat and F350 KR...but when I inquired at the dealer when the order bank will open, she said the same thing. I don't know what or where they read this but both believe a minor change will be the radio/nav screen. To me that would mean another total new dash face.
Not wanting to spread a rumor though. I love Ford trucks. My 6.7 is awesome. By the way, the ecoboost is the everything you read and more! Our 2012 Plat will be an EB.
