The A-Pillar moldings are only supposed to be held on by screws. I don't know why yours are stuck. As much as I hate to say it, you're hit and miss on these. When I touched my original A-Pillar moldings, they crushed to dust beneath my fingers. I didn't even put pressure on them.

OH NO!! I was afraid of that. It's too dark now to go out and look closer, but I think I know what's going on there.
Windshield adhesive.
I've always been happy with the ultra fine windshield I have. Looks brand new. Now I think it might actually be.
Could adhesive gunk from a windshield replacement have gotten up under the lip of the panel, and glued it there permanently? I say permanently, because just as soon as I start trying to dig the panel out of that gunk, I'm afraid I'll break the windshield.
I'll look at it again tomorrow. I guess I'll try to tackle the passenger side to see if there is any difference. Maybe I'll be able to tell what's up then.

Pictures are great at explaining things sometimes...............
Get us some pictures from the outside of the windshield looking in towards the A pillars. That should explain a lot.
There must be something like adhesive going on there because once you take the screws off they essentially fall off the truck.
You could definitely have some adhesive in there. The windshield only rests on a little lip. The lip is what the adhesive gets layed out on, so I can see that happen. If it's possible, try getting a blade of some kind behind the a-pillar and just run it down and try to separate whatever is there.
Its sun baked from the sun. Run a razor down it and you are going to need to start above that one iirc. The passenger side one then the top one then that one. That windshield good **** sucks I had to scrap it all out yesterday to prep it for paint.
Anyone have an A pillar laying around that they can take a pic of...the side that butts the windshield...so that I can see how much I'm gonna have to dig to get mine out?

Thanks!
Yea, it does. I'm wondering how much lip there is that I need to free up. I have a linoleum knife that might work well for this. That hook end on the knife might allow me to get in there and dig enough adhesive out.

I'll try that tomorrow, too dark again.
Thanks!
I think I have my old A-pillars from my 81 that I removed when I installed the 87 A-pillars instead for my gauge pod.
If things dont work out for you on yours, I'd be willing to give you mine and all you have to do is cover shipping.

Its certainly not sealed permanently its just how it works. I'd rather have tar on it than water. Just cut it and go about your business.
