mice in engine compartment

I opened my hood earlier this evening and a damn field mouse was standing on my intake. It dove under my washer fluid would not come out. I know that pack rats will do a number on wires, will a little field mouse do the same. I checked every wire i could see and couldn't find any harm but i know there are many more i was missing

I had an engine fire in a Grand Cherokee as a result of a mouse nest built on the intake manifold. I had to reach in and pull out a flaming pile of dried grass from the top of the engine. I would not waste any time getting rid of that little bugger.

Yeah, mice will chew up wiring too. Mice chewed up about 6" of the fuel injection wiring on the 460 in my F250 this fall...

any good tricks on getting him out of there. I got him to poke his head out where he was hiding and gave him a little shot of brake cleaner and now can't find him again

Poison or traps. The disadvantage with traps is that you may attract more mice to the bait.

Not sure about the wires but they will chew holes in the vacuum lines when my mercury started to have problems shifting that was the problem a mouse had chewed a hole the vacuum line to the transmission.
