EBPV? Injectors? Poor performance!
I have a '96 F-350 CC PSD 5 speed 4x4 with 176,000 miles and am having some issues. I have been getting poor mpg, from 17 when I got it down to around 13 now (down as far as 9 while towing 7k LBS). It smokes like crazy (white-ish w/ a tint of blue) that usually cleans up after it warms up, but warming up is a nother issue. I can plug it in at night and it starts like a champ the next morning, but it always idles around 600-700 RPM (Which seems low). When it is cold the EBPV system works, but NEVER stopps working. I can drive it for more than an hour and the EBPV is still doing its annoying thing. The temp never seems to get into the "N" in normal on the guage. If I am stopped at a stop light, or leave it idling for any amount of time the temp drops to the first line on the guage. (I just put a new thermostate in it). The Ford Dealer says it needs injectors but I almost threw up at the cost of those guys. the truck has a large lack of power and will barley pull a 10K load 55 or 60 on any sort of uphill grade. Any idea about my issues? I am thinking of deletinh the EBPV. I also have a 2000 Excursion that does the same thing... just not as bad. Thanks in advance for any ideas... I am really frustrated at this point.
