'96 PSD question.........
I have been experiencing intermittent engine stalls. Generally they occur when idling or deceleration/turns.
I initially was getting suspicious of the cam sensor but this has gone on over a year. Sometimes it won't happen for 3- 6 months, then it may occur several days in a row.
I now suspect a fuel system issue. I have changed the fuel filter regularly. It has 118K miles on it. I have not done any extensive investigating into tanks or other areas of the fuel system. Generally speaking, the fuel does not ever show signs of water & is visibly clean looking. I did notice some film on the walls of the filter housing.
I am wondering if anyone has their fuel systems cleaned, flushed or otherwise by the dealership or is there something you do on your own?
I have been using an additive which claims to boost cetane levels & "keep injectors clean".
Any thoughts are appreciated.
