I think I'm finally going to get around to replacing my sending unit. The gas gauge is pretty much the only thing left on the truck that doesn't work. I'm planing to clean and inspect the tank at the same time, since there was a lot of debris sitting on top of the tank when I got the truck. I have an 83 F100 with the stock single tank, which I THINK is the 16 gal.
Is this the right one? Is this a fairly good deal, or can I get a better price somewhere? After I pull the tank and clean it, should I paint or coat it with anything, assuming it's in decent shape?
It looks to be the right one, here is a link to that manufacturers catalog. Part # is FG75A for the 16, FG74A for teh 19. Measure the length of the tank, the 19 gallon is almost 60" long, and the 16 gallon is closer to 48" With those part#'s you can search around more and check prices.
