Question 1997 power window and power lock problem

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have been having this problem for a few months. I have a 1997 explorer XLT. My driver side window has failed as well as my door lock. Now I used to be able to at least let the window down, with intermediate stops along the way and after flicking the button a couple of times it would come back up. Now it is down and will not come back up. The door lock/unlock button only works when I try to unlock. It will unlock all doors. However, when I tried to lock them it will not do anything. Now all the other windows I can control fine from the driver side. It is just the driver side window that does not seem to work. Could it be that circuit type module that the switches connect into or is it the motor.

1997 power window and power lock problem

I had a problem about two months ago with my 97 Ex. The power door lock switch on the drivers door wouldn't work unless i gave it a beating. It would work for about a week, then started acting up again. I went and picked up a couple spares from the local wrecking yard and replaced it. It has yet to give me greif again. I beleive that you are having problems with the switches. I would try replacing them, or if you are very careful and remember the way they go back together, you can disassemble them and clean the contacts. I took the bad one apart and actually didn't find anything wrong with it, but maybe just a little cleaning with some emery cloth or steel wool, and a dose of die-electric grease may solve your problem.
