FIRE HAZARD?

The guy at circuit city (when he installed XM for me) told me that where I had my tach,cb power, and cb antennas running was a fire hazard. I ran them out the left side along the quarter panel as to not have to drill any holes. Why would he say this (because they are all bunched together in the door jamb kinda?

FIRE HAZARD?

Probably because he knows only what he's been told by other "professional" minimum-wage CC employees. As long as you have a fuse on the CB power, you'll never start a fire with the tach or antenna - they don't use enough current.

FIRE HAZARD?

Did he offer to re-run the wires for you? Maybe he was trying to make a few bucks.

FIRE HAZARD?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Jan-03 AT 02:01 PM (EST)]No he didn't offer to rerun them, I found out the hard way once not to cut both wires at the same time lol, but other than that I haven't had any fire hazards from my wiring. It's been in there quite some time like that but doesnt work now because I rewired it when i took my truck box out, because i had a wire running from there to my box to run accessories and a light and i cut both wires and well they became connecting melted and smoked all to hell lol. I'm glad i learned my lesson before i really hurt something. I know i know I'm dumb lol.

Now that i rewired it with an inline fuse plus the cb fuse I'm missing a connection somewhere between the engine bay (that's as far away as i could test with multimeter) and the cab......and it's just too cold for me to rerun them now lol.
