I just bought a 99 ranger 4.0 4x4 with only 36k on it. I scored it real cheap cuz the undercarriage is really rusty, It looks like just the regular surface rust. How can I stop it from rusting any further? I owned a 99 ranger before and I sold it with over 200k on it and it's still on the road. I loved that truck! I bought another one because my lightning crapped out on me, so I garaged the lightning for now till I can find the parts I need. I paid $7500 for the 99 Ranger, Good score or No?

After you've wire-brushed\ground-down the surface rust and wiped down everything with a solvent, I'd try purchasing a gallon of POR15(http://www.por15.com).
This product is (in my experience) the best performing, easiest-to-apply and best results, rust restorative out there. It comes in a few basic colors, but can be tinted with the same common paint tints found, usually, at your local Hardware store. It's been my experience that the big-box stores do not carry paint tints. Disclaimer: I make the above product recommendation as a result of my own personal experience using the product mentioned. I receive no monetary compensation, nor in any way am employed by, either POR15 nor am employed by a firm using\selling POR15.
Hope this helps.... Mark
