Misinformation

Today I attended the World Ag Expo in Tulare, Calif. While there, I dropped by the Ford dealer organization's exhibit. While discussing the new engines, the rep said how he was impressed that ALL the engines were direct-injected. Upon hearing this, I tried, in a kind-but-firm manner, to disagree with him, saying the ONLY engine w/DI was the EcoBoost. He didn't budge, so I just said to use the computers right there to find it. He could neither confirm or deny.
My point is, all kinds of people are being fed BS due to misinformation be Ford's own people. No wonder folks are confused when they come here....

This is common. Product Information Specialists have told me the 3.5 EB is a V8, that the 5.0 bears nothing in common with the Mustang and that Ford's own press release on EcoBoost's rated economy was "disinformation planted by someone who wanted to discredit Ford."

There are a few that know their stuff, but most were hired through a modelling agency for their looks and they don't care about cars. This is a gig while they wait for their big break, or future flight attendant job.

I'm surprised someone like him would be so wrong. Even most of us know about the basics of the 3.7, 3.5, 5.0 and 6.2.

it is kinda disturbing to see/hear about this sort of thing because getting the RIGHT info out is going to be a key part of making the most of the sales opportunity that these new engines represent for Ford and when knuckleheads like that are out there feeding false info to people who are going to trust what they are hearing because they think it's a Ford rep they are talking to... then when they hear different later who do they believe?

At our local auto expo they had a test drive set up. I asked which engines they had in the F150's and the guy said they had the 5.0 and the 6.2. I asked "So no Ecoboost then?". He said "No, we only have the regular 6.2. They haven't started making the Ecoboost 6.2 yet.".

On a similar note, A couple of weeks ago my 17 year old daughter and I drove a Mustang GT and an F-150 5.0L. My salesperson was out of town so they through a newby at us for the drive experience.

My daughter, GOD love her is a Ford fanatic and she knows her stuff. This poor salesmen was trying to match wits with my kid and sank like a rock that didn't skip over a smooth pond.

This guy didn't know his butt from a dog pee hole in the snow and yet he's at the tip of the spear.

Thank goodness Ford trucks speak for themselves.
