I have a 1974 360 2wd and it will only start when i pull the colum a little to the park side. i think its the safety switch. its minus 25c outside and i dont wanna dick around a whole lot to trouble shoot this one. where is the switch located, on the bottom of the colum or on the tranny.? and are they a pain to change.? if i tie it whith a clamp or wire wont it start in drive and crash through the neighbors fence ? thanx for any help you can give me.
Now I see why Bears hibernate during the winter. It's too damn cold to work on their truck . Must leave you all a lot to do during the spring/summer months.

Yes you can, yes it will, but only if you let it. (a remote starter with a bypassed neutral safety switch=bad) If the switch fails completey out in the middle of nowhere, you can splice the two wires coming out of it together in a pinch to get you home. (not that I recommend bypassin the switch at all, but you gotta do what you gotta do)
Now That I think about it, you might not have to change the switch. On the tranny, you can move the shift lever linkage up and down on the stud to a position where when the truck is in park, the switch will allow it to start. You just have to play with it a little to get it right.
BTW it was 75* here in sunny California. I love wearin shorts in March!
