We had a discussion about the 48-50 emblems some time ago. It was determined that some were stainless and some were pot metal. Don't remember if it was based on the year or on the plant where the truck was made.

Here's a discussion I started about those things back around November. I think this is the one you're referring to. I think this stuff is very interesting.

Hellfirejim, I'd probably try to get those on ebay. They don't look too bad. And, I'm sure you know that nobody is apparently reproducing them at the moment.

As a last resort ya could have them painted on to look 3-D. Chip Foose did that on some of his builds and ya was hard pressed to tell them from real without touching them. I would like to do that to all the trim and emblems on a truck sometime. It would sure make cleaning and waxing easier. And less places for dirt and moister to hide. Any of you darksiders tried this yet?

Has anyone ever seen a stamped F-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 emblem? The only stamped emblems I remember seeing are F-1s.

Well, I might just have to out bid you on them.....of course that would mean I would have to buy a truck to put them on....I wonder if that would fly with the wife....Shoot, I like sleeping in my bed, maybe I had better not.

Interesting... I was wondering about this too. My '49 has blocky cast emblems, and my '50 has flat stamped-looking emblems (both f1). I thought it was just a minor change with the model year. Pretty cool that there is some history behind the part differences.

I wonder if there is a market for these???? The old story, I have a friend.... Actually I have a friend who has a machine that can duplicate in metal whatever is put with it. They would probably come out in aluminum. I think I might talk with him about it... Hmmmm F-2, F-3, F-6

I bet there is a nice little market for these. If your friend could make them fairly cheaply it would probably be a nice niche market. You could even see of places like LMC truck would sell them for you....
