lets talk filters.

ok, so im in the process of putting my ford back together. planning on going all out of filters. fram makes a nice aftermarket fuel filter assembly. spin on filter, filters down to around 10 microns. planning to add one of these along with the usual clear filter before the carb. planning to also add a fuel pressure gauge to help keep an eye on when the filter is clogging/ fuel pump getting weak.

napa sells a coolant filter setup. kinda like what the big rigs use. anyone ever used one on their dent? im looking at adding this as well.

ill be adding a trans cooler for the power steering, as well as a filter.

the only really stock filters i plan to use are the oil and air.

anyone else do anything like this?

Right on Fram stopped putting the anti-bleed back flap in there oil filters so you get to pump your filter back up at first start ups in the morning after the oil has drained out of the filter over night.

First choice, Fleetgard, 2nd Wix or Napa which are made by Wix. Also, regarding the OP's proposed coolant filter.........They are not really a filter. They contain additives to protect the cylinder liners in a diesel engine from electrolosis and cavitation. With a seperate cylinder liner, the vibrations from firing the cylinder will actually push the coolant away from the liner and when it rushes back into the void, will erode the liner. This is known as cavitation. I have actually seen them perforate completely thru and then you end up with coolant in the combustion chamber. This is not really a problem on a bore in block setup like a gasoline engine since the cylinder walls are much thicker than a liner and the combustion forces are not nearly as violent. I don't think the additives would hurt anything but just really aren't neccesary.

no, it is a filter too. heres a similar setup Coolant Filter Retrofit

i more so want it for the element to catch dirt and stuff. this guy does talk about additives too.

the napa part numbers show it availible without additived.
