i looked and my truck calls for 75w140 in the rear. the cheapest i can find it is $18 a quart, and i need 4..but i also found that lucas oil stabilizer says you can use it in differentials, and its $25 a gallon. i use lucas in my oil and never knew it could be used in dif's. anyone do this?
Go to wallmart get there super tech brand 75w-140 synthetic 10.55 quart just put it in mine yesterday. If you have the limeted slip rear then you need a friction modifier 4oz, ford or pepboys has it .
is there anyone that has actually used it in theirs? just wondering because i dont want to drive all the way back to return this, then spend another $15 on gear lube.
Look wallmart doesn't whip this up in the back stock room it has to be made by one of the major oil manufactors. You are not paying for the labeling and advertising. Kind of like genarics . JMO

i know that. i used the supertech whatever in my front dif, but it was like $4 a quart. im just tryin to save a buck, considering i need a rear diff cover as well
well whatever. im just going to get the walmart stuff because this lucas is thicker that molasses in the middle of january(no joke, it would take hours to pump a gallon into my diff) ill just return it i guess.
Anyone know where to get a cheap diff cover? its a ford 10.5inch.
Lucas oil stabilizer is an oil additive. It's not meant to replace the oil.
Correct, it's meant to increase viscosity.
Lucas was kind enough to build us a straight 250W synthetic for the Trophy Truck, now that's thick! Takes a long time to warm the third member.
well, this is the cheapest i can find the cover. it is chrome, but i figured i can just sandblast it and paint it black. anyone opposed to this? are the ones on ebay super thin?
