I have plans on rebuilding a F4TE block for my mud truck, but i have nothing against flat tappet motors... I want to get 450-500 ponies out of it and want to know if this is going to hold up or is the right set up for me.
I will be adding the cam and lifters along with an Edlebrock top end kit plus carb. But for $995 for a rebuilt block would be a LOT cheaper than rebuilding and machining the one i have.
how well do you trust the seller? I gotta wonder why someone would have that much work into a short block just to sell it. If it was a machine shop dropping an engine from a deadbeat client, thats one thing. Otherwise, be skeptical and make sure everything is as listed. be sure and check it actually does have ARP bolts. It sounds like a good deal, just verify what they've listed
If your looking for 500HP , i would build a better bottom end with a better crank and rods , that just says ARP bolts , probabley a stock bottom end ....Lew
