Coming back from a short trip last week, my wife started saying there was an intermittant whine coming from my side. As we drove, she said it started going from intermittant to almost steady and was getting louder. I can't hear that well, but as we drove I started hearing it and it sounded to me like an alternator bearing or power steering pump problem. It continued to get louder and almost steady. But then I noticed that it stopped when I used the turn signals and the buzz also didn't seem to be related to either vehicle or engine speed.
When I got back home I listened to it in the driveway with the truck stopped, and 100% of the time, it went off when I hit either turn signal, and came back when they were off. It had no relation to engine speed, it seems close to a whine, but more a high pitched buzz and quite loud now. It also seemed to be coming from under the dash and not from the engine but I can't tell exactly where. I pulled the DP Tuner thinking it might have something to do with that, but no change.
Any ideas before I haul it into the stealership?

a relay. mine was buzzing in that area. i was told (here) it was most likely a bad connection at the battery or engine ground. i cleaned all the post and clamps. havent heard it since
How close to the SFValley are you? If it's worth your time and fuel, if you want to bring it out to Reseda, I'd be willing to take a look at it for you. I'm somewhat familiar with the under-dash stuff, and know how easy it is to access it all. I have the tools to do it, too.
If you wanna' go that way, let me know, and I'll PM you my cell number so we can make arrangements.

That's really nice of you to offer. I'm just over the hill from you. When I get back to the house, I'll try feeling around for any relays up there and if I can find it, I would love to meet you and have you look at it. I'll get back to you. Thanks again.
