A friend sent me a note regarding a 48 Ford that FoMoCo bought for 800k, and reminded me about the Ford I found and told him about. It's a F250/350 commercial delivery truck I found out by the lake, has a hood scoop with open vents, a air induction base on the underside of the hood, an aluminum aircleaner housing that mates to the underside hood box, a supercharger or turbo mounted on the passenger side of the engine (I think, been 2 years) and ducting connecting it all together. Is this a common set-up for late 1940's commercial engine. It's not a newer style engine, truck has been parked since the mid 1950's (has a 1954 reg tag and a water bill from 1954 in the comparment, 1952 plates). Just curious, I doubt it's anything rare. This same guy has several 1937 pickups and a few others (he's 81, never sold a vehicle he's bought, has about 65 on his property).
Welcome to the board!
We discussed that 800K truck on here a few weeks ago. To me, there is a lot to that story that just doesn't add up. Sure, the truck was clean and unique but a lot of the options that were on it were dealer installed items, not factory installed, and the truck was far enough removed from original that I doubt Ford would have ever doled out that kind of cash to aquire it.
From what you describe about the truck with the air induction it sounds like one of the Ford Big Jobs that had a factory hood scoop. It sounds like the old guy has a neat place to roam around in, its a shame he'll never sell anything. When he dies his family will probalby just call someone in and have it all crushed....shame
