Extended warrentee

How much did you pay for your extended warrentee and what coverage did you get, are you happy with what you bought?

Has anyone used/purchased from fd-warrany.com? I was curious about this. I'd much rather go the Ford ESP route than some other aftermarket warranty. I don't have a good reason for it, just a comfort thing on my part.

Anyway, the fd-warranty thing seemed like one of those too-good-to-be-true type things.

Thanks,
Chris

Do you really want an extended warranty? Will this warranty keep you from stripping this truck of all the emissions hardware and turning it into a real truck? Are you past the 36 months from when your truck was put into service? Will the $2,000 be better spent on a delete & tune? With trying to justify the extended warranty ask yourself this - would you have paid an additional $2,000 for your truck? What did the oasis and warranty history state? Has this truck been through all the recall & warranty issues of the 08's? I'll bet you can tell I'm not a big fan of extended warranties, not on computers, appliances and especially not $2,000 dollar warranties for trucks. Remember that the companies that sell these know that the odds are in their favor - not yours - and they make the money.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

If you had my last truck (GM, not Ford), you'd understand my desire for an extended warranty.

I am still under existing warranty (only 24k miles), but am honestly a little scared of the things I am hearing, none of which seems to be <$2k fix.

Extended warrentees can save your wallet , I never believed in them and never bought one but on my last car purchase I chiseled the dealer for the lowest possible price on the car and we settled on a price then at signing I said I want a free lifetime drive line plan expecting them to tell me to get lost they made a few calls and I got a free plan and guess what 3 and a 1/2 years later the motor blew and I got a brand new long block for 100 dollars , also got a week with a free loaner car,,,,,,, long story short when I go to the Ford dealer I going to work them the same way price and then the extended warrentee, I am sure it will not be a free plan but I am going to haggle for the lowest cost..

my 2001 f-150's extended warranty cost me $1500. It covered $3600 worth of repairs. I'll never go without a warranty on something that I'm making payments on.(to each there own though)

my exteneded ESP FOMOCO for 75000 miles and I have only 32000 on truck now cost me $1665.00 Lombard Ford Winsted Ct. Full coverage and no deductible. First day car rental my expense.

Have an 08 4x4 6.4 diesel Crewcab and long bed Lariat. Has 4.88 rears!!! I have put the CAT/DPF delete on it and also the SCTLivewire tuner. Dealer said it would not void the warranty UNLESS these changes were the cause of the problem. They seem to support the programer to get better MPG. It did for me but maybe too soon to tell how much. Runs like a rabbit. Have to watch the pressure put on the foot feed...it jumps!

When they pay up its great - how many folks purchased warrantees that never had a claim? Good for the insurance company - that's how they paid for your repairs. If you're not comfortable that the truck is up to snuff then buy the warranty the other option is not to buy the truck.

I am actually going to be purchasing the Ford "Diesel EngineCare" plan on the used 08 F350 which we just purchased. I was quoted $3100.00 by my local dealer, but found that I could get it at another local dealer for $2190.00. This is a FORD plan, NOT an aftermarket company which is underwriting it. There are very few items which I will buy an extended warranty on. But, after owning 1 other diesel, which was a 2003 6.0 liter, I can't chance it. This would pay for itself easily with 1 repair. This plan can be purchased within the original 5/100,000 period with less than 4000 hours(I believe). This plan covers it until 7/200,000. BTW, there is another Dieselcare plan which is better, but it needs to be purchased within the 3/36,000 warranty period.

" This (plan) would pay for itself easily with 1 repair", you got that right at 85 -120 per hour and then parts and fluids on top 3-5,000 dollar repair bills at the dealerships are a common occurrence today

btw my 3 Ford diesels all had the same problem on only one was wareentee , problem was rusted out oil pans and the current r and r is 2,100 dollars on the old style trucks can only imagine what the new breed will cost....

I'm still unsure about buying the extended warranty. I am being offered a 6 year/100,000km warranty for $3000 Canadian.

Should I take it or maybe even try to see if they'll give me it for less?

The credit department guy originally quoted me $2,200 but then noticed that I was buying a 4x4 with deisel and said he didn't realize I was getting those options and the actual price was $3000.

Not sure if I want it now. The cost of the truck is going up and up.

What do all you guys think of extended warranties???

Are they a good investment?
