Question Wiring Help Needed....

Hi guys.

I got a question. I finally sourced a chassis harness for my truck, and now ran into yet, another problem.

The sending units on the tanks look like this:

With this kind of plug:

And on the wiring harness i got off of a 93 7.3 idi has these kind of plugs:

The sending units have 4 wires, but the plug on the harness only has 2....

Also, can somebody tell me what these relays are for?

Thanks in advance!!

What kind of truck is this for?
Those look like they may be gas sending units on the tanks, the extra 2 wires being for the fuel pump. Why are you trying to replace the chassis harness? We need more details to help you out.

its a 94 f250 ext cab 4wd 7.3 idi-t auto.

I got the truck without the harness, had a couple of them with the truck, but were all chopped to hell.

Basically an unfinished project from somebody. they might have put gas unit without knowing what it was.

That is definatly a gasser sender. Same as what is in my tank now. Don't try to use that intank pump to run your truck. It is a high pressure unit for EFI and will over prerssure your ip. I use it but have a bypass regulator in my fuel line.

don't pay attention to the number of wires on the sender...I have a couple of senders out of diesel trucks that have the four wires but the two wires for the gas fuel pumps aren't hooked up on the tank side.

It's easier to manufacture that way..

Thank you guys!

I pulled one of the units, and its defenitly a diesel unit. Only one (yellow) wire hooked up.

Now, on that last picture, there is a harness with two relays, the harness out of the junk truck doesnt have a plug for it. It comes out of the fuse box under the hood. Im guessing it has something to do with the 4wd?

I do have another harness that i pieced toghether that has the plug. The new harness i have is out of a 2wd truck.

I would actually guess that the relays were to shut down the fuel pumps in a collision.

Can't remember where the inertia switch was located that controlled them.
