Wheel question???

As pictured on my pickup, i really dont like the wheels very much. So i was thinking about how i could make it look a little better. So what i thought up is painting the spokes and center black and leave the polished aluminum in between the spokes. My main reasoning for this is one to get a different and hopefully better look and also the center caps dont match the wheel color they are either shinnier or have junk on them and the spokes wont shine up very good at all but it shines up good in between the spokes thats why i thought of just leaving that, im kind of a fan of the blacked out look, i dont want to black it all out, cuz i do like a little shine. Any thoughts or opinions would help.

If they are uncoated aluminum you can take some mothers mag wheel polish (or similar product) and polish them up really good. Only go in a forward and back motion when polishing the wheels, not in circles btw or it will scratch.

Ya that'd probably work good but the only bad thing is the center caps are plastic and have junk splattered all over a couple of them and i cant get it off and in my eyes looks like crap. Thats the only reason i was thinking about painting them. O and another question, how should i go about painting them, like sanding? what paint would be best to use? primer? etc..

Ya i know what you mean, im not much a fan of body work, or i guess you could say paint.lol as you can tell by all the rust on my pickup. I figure if the body is rusty and scratched up, why fix it and worry about everytime it gets a scratch, unless its gonna be a pavement queen. I dont much wanna do my wheels but i just hate the looks of them as is so somethings gotta be done, i figure painting them black will make them not stand out as much but yet keep a little shine cuz i hate the all black wheels, at least until i can afford a new set.

If they are couated ( clear coat) aluminum wheels and it look like its chippinh off take the m and laythem down put some of the thick paint stripper on them it will remove the clear coat. After its removed buff em with some mothers and itll look like a new aluminum rim. If u want I can give a better descrption on how to do this. I have done it tones of times used to work in a salvage yard and its how we cleaned em up to sell at higher price

Gregallen, thanks for that tip, but i know i can shine the wheels themselves up if i tried, but like i had previously stated its the center caps that are trashed, idk what it is but the guy who previously had them got some crap sprayed on them and frankly look like crap, i'd love to just polish up the wheels and call it good, but it'd look funny with nice shiny wheels and dull crappy center caps. THAT is my reasoning for painting them.

This can get pricey tho I had a 99 drw and curbed the front one. Beeing as **** as I am with my whip I replaced it 450 for the one. Sorry I got no tips for the center cap they can be trickey cuz thier usually plasit and have that foil type coating. Thiers all sorts of good paints out thier just gotta find what ur looking forand the right type

Ya i have no clue how old the wheels are nor do i know what make they even are.lol And ya the center caps are the crappy plastic ones with the stupid foil junk on it. So ya either just say screw it and leave it or break down and try to paint it.lol Im not to **** about it just like to clean my pickup up every now and then and when i do i hate looking at the miscolored wheels.lol

Well this may sound dumb but go buy some decent tape and play with it put in spots ud like to possible paint and leave spots u dont bare. Leave it on fer a day or two and get a look from far away and out and about town this will give u an idea as to what u prefferthen if u do paint them just lay on at least 4 coats of clear this will help protect them.

Thats actually a great idea, just throw on some black tape and get a feel for what it'd look like before i actually do paint it. Great idea thanks a ton.
