re;73 f250
Hey, without knowing exactly what answers worked to help you, I can only give you a little help. To my knowledge, yes, they are separate circuits to a point.
The first thing you need to check is your ground connections on each light assembly. Check the connector where it grounds to the body. Make sure it has good and bare metal and a tight connection.
Check the bulb socket for any corrosion or oxidation. If there is any, clean it up.
I have to assume that your brake light switch had to be replaced. If so, and you replaced it, do both brake lights now work? If they do, but your turn signal does not work on the rears, then yes, it will probably be the turn signal switch.
The brake light wiring leaves the brake switch (mounted on the brake pedal) and goes through the turn signal switch assembly. From there they go to the rear tail light assemblies.
This is just a basic description. If you search the forum here, there is probably a wiring diagram that will go into more details, but honestly it does sound like the switch (if all grounds are good).
