Ok, well I love my '96 but 4x4 is needed in my work and play, there's a "buy here-pay here" lot in town, they have a '94 150 with 4-6" of lift and 33's. It has the 5.8/E4OD and the 1356 manual T-case. It has long tube headers and true dual exhaust. It ran nice, exhaust didn't smell, didn't smoke, and its a XLT that's about all I know about it. I didn't get to drive it cause it was empty on gas and I didn't wanna get stranded in someone else's truck.
My truck is a '96 150 2wd 5.0/M5OD XL manual windows and locks.
The '94 has a drivers door problem, it wouldn't open for some reason, but I'll fix it. It needs a inner fender on the passenger side, no big deal to me, again, I'll fix it just to get the 4x4.
Should I go 2 years back to get the 4x4? I need 4x4 but I also get by OK without it now..

My '96:
I've thought about offering my truck for trade and 500 cash. If not I'll sell my the '96 and try and get it. I just can't decided..
It's just what you want.....I mean, here is a few pro's/cons:
Pro's-
-You'll have 4x4
-It looks to have a good paint job
-You can keep the inner fender and put on the 94'
Con's-
-You'll be giving up a MAF engine (I am assuming as your truck is a 96')
-Unless you WANT it, you'll be getting a E4OD Auto tranny-A step in the right direction, IMHO, from the crappy M5OD.........
-You'll be getting a whole new set of issues to deal with, if you purchase the 92', (Finding out the bugs in it....)
Other than mileage difference, I see no real reason why not......You can always swap a T-5 and Transfer case in simply enough.....
Well, when I first got the 96 I loved the MAF but I really haven't been able to make a good use of it as I was happy with the power it makes without doing any upgrades that require the MAF. The only thing I'm gonna hate is giving up the OBDII..
Anybody else have something to ad?
depending on the deal i would take it and run...you will be happy as hell with it. cept maybe the fuel mileage will suffer cuz its probley not regeard and ur pushing 33's around... go for it
Definately test drive it and try out the 4x4 before any decision. Not being a factory color paint job, you should find out why? Take it to a local auto parts place and have them check it for any codes, usually free.
Well it was white from the factory, so I bet it being white was the reason for the repaint. But I will drive it when their cheap asses puts some gas in it. It would be nice to step up to the power windows and locks, 4x4, and the rust free truck..
Don't offer your truck in trade. If you can swing it, keep both and then you could have parts available, then sell your 2wd later. I would be concerened about a place that won't put 20 bucks of gas in a vehicle to help make a sale. Ask them for the name of the previous owner and see what response you get. Tough call still.

X2 I would definitely want to take it on a good test drive to check things out.
looks better, meaner, looks like itll be more fun'er to drive then other one...it might be a down grade but it has its upgrades as mentioned...but also has the potential of more things going.. you will get less mpg with 4wd and if gearz wasnt changed. honestly if price is right id do it.. 4wd power windows...
Looks sweet. I would be suspicious of the paint job. I dont see a lot of these trucks repainted. So look really hard for any signs of an accident. Besides that i think is a cool truck. Cant beat having 4wd, except the added cost of maintaining t-case and front dif.
I went back up there today (without the girlfriend, could look more and closer) and it had some ruffed up spots on the back, the paint was chipped pretty bad, it needs a front U-joint, no leaks anywhere, there was one spot where one of the lift brackets was welded after it cracked, but it looked to be a strong, well penetrated weld, no rust. They aren't open on sundays soo I didn't get to drive it or open it up anymore than last time, there was 1 dent I found where they covered it in bondo instead of pulling the dent. The crack concerns me at the structural integrity of it, its a skyjacker lift, haven't seen any of those crack before now. I'm still considering just keeping my '96 and getting the '68 F100 4x4 for 800 bucks I found...
I say stick with what you know, and keep your truck. It always seems like stuff from lots like that have a bunch of problems. If you can get a cheap 4x4 beater, I think you'd be better off.
I can get a '68 F100 that needs minor floor pan work, a 300 I6, 4 speed granny low, and 4x4 for 800 bucks, oh and it needs breaks, no big deal to me. I'm a break speacialist by now..
