I am putting a 89 302 fi in a 69 f250. I need to find a inline fuel pump for it. I dont know what the pressure I need. So anyone have any suggestions for me as to what pump and what pressure I need? Thanks Adam.
The standard Ford EFI systems use 40 psig pressure. There are aftermarket inline pumps that made for the Mustang hobbyists that should work just fine. Those systems use a bypass pressure regulator, so you will have to run the return fuel line for it.
I have found a few pumps that could work but one has to much pressure and the other is to little. I also am not trying to spend to much money on a pump. If I could make a in tank pump work I would but have not found one that I could rig up in the tank.
The stock Ford in-tank pump for EFI engines have a combination pump and level sender assembly mounted to a plate that caps off the fuel tank. I don't know if anyone makes a retrofit adapter for a 69 f250, so it's something you will have to rig up your self if you want a stock type in-tank pump. Also, the tanks in the EFI cars have either a depression or a baffle chamber that the pump inlet sits in, to prevent fuel starvation from sloshing when the car goes around turns.
I think I have found a pump that will work. It is a Airtex inline pump that pumps out 45-65psi. I can get it from the local parts store and if I get if off the website I get $40 off so it will only be $75. I may still have to get a low pressure pump to suply this one but it will still work.
