Question regarding transfer case
I now have the 351W for the 1951 F1 and a C6 transmission. However the transmission has a transfer case for 4 wheel drive. Question is does the transfer case come off and a dummy plate go on? If so where could one find this plate?This truck will be a 2 wheel drive.

You are probably going to have to get an output shaft and tailhousing from a 2 wd C6. If you look, your C6 does not have a provision for a speedometer cable, as it comes from the transfer case. The 2 wd tailhousing and output shaft have the provision for the speedometer cable.

I hadn't thought about the tail piece. I haven't seen the transmission yet, I'm looking at it Friday. The question would be where to find the tail piece. Possibly a swap, I will be getting the whole truck.It's a 1981 F150 4 wheel drive. I take the engine and part the rest of it. Always something in the ointment.

Replacing the out put shaft and housing requires disassembling the whole transmission. You are better off just picking up a good 2wd transmission.
Yes they put C6 behind the 302 and 351W 2wd and 4x4. They also used AOD's in some F150 4x4's and Fullsize Bronco's.
