Title question

Ok so i bought this truck, its a 74 f100. The guy who owns it claims he cant find the title, but im not so sure he has one. I do know for sure that the truck is not stolen. He is a relative and his wifes father left him the truck when he moved away, about 8 months ago. So now the title is MIA and i dont know if it was ever in his name anyway. I dont think they are on speaking terms anymore. So how can i get a title for this truck, or can i get a title for this truck? I know this is complicated so sorry for the long story lol. Thanks

Get the vin contact your dmv. You can have them run the vin to find out when and where it was last titled. They may be able to get you the persons contact info to get the title or a replacement title. You may be able to get them to contact that person to verify they sold it and then you could get it titled in your name. Call them and ask a few questions. Hope this helps.

Cool thanks fordman. I figured that was the route i would have to go i just wasnt sure if i could get like a sheriffs title or a storage title or something along those lines. Is there a full vin anywhere on the truck other than on the frame rail do you know?

You could also do an abandoned vehicle claim and get a title that way also? Just FYI

I know all states are different, but check into an antique vehicle title. In ks if the vehicle is 35 yrs or older it qualifies. On a antique vehicle here, you can tag it as such with only a bill of sale..worth checking on. And by the way, I love Wyoming, great state....would love to live there

VIN should be on a tag either on the driver door or the pilar under the door latch.
