hey guys im new here... JUst picked up a 92 f150 4x4 with the 351 in it and the e4od tranny. got it for a hell of a deal... just needs some work... i pulled the codes from the check engine light and now i need to figure out what needs replace... it came up with code 12-idle control fault, code 25, knock not sensed during dynamic response test, and code 39- axod torque converter or bypass clutch not applying properly... any help with what all needs done would be awesome guys... hopefully ill be around here for a while. Thanks in advance
Are you sure your truck was giving you 2 digit codes? My '92 F-350 displays 3 digit codes. I find it odd for your truck to have a code for the knock sensor, you do not have one. Both codes 12 and 25 are from the KOER tests. I cannot say what code 39 means, never ran across that one before.
I assume the KOEO test came out with code 11, System Pass?

The KOEO test? Well I used a a jumper wire from the STI and ran it t o the ground on the battery and watched the check engine light.... It would do a couple long flashes then pause then do a series of short flashes.... that and i couldnt find anything for 3 digit codes...
Ford started transitioning to 3 digit codes around 1991. I know of a few trucks that still display 2 digit codes until 1995 or so. I always question anyone who states they have 2 digit codes on anything beyond 1991.
In your example two of the three codes are only displayed in the Key On Engine Running (KOER) tests. So if you did not turn on the engine, those codes are invalid and the reason why I question if you are reading the codes correctly.

alright ignore the last post... i ran it one more time for safe measures since i had my defroster on the first one.... on the koeo test i got 122 and the cm i got 122 and 123
112 is usually caused by not warming up the engine before running the tests or it is very cold outside. 122 indicates the TPS voltage is below 0.6 VDC with the throttle closed in the KOEO test. In CM it indicates the TPS has intermittently failed below 0.6 VDC.
123 indicates the TPS voltage has intermittently exceeded 4.5 VDC. I would say there is a problem with your TPS. I always verify with a meter what the feedback signal is. It's another way to eliminate a wiring problem before spending money on a new sensor.
Well I ended up picking up a tps... I get everything at cheap here since they know me. Im just gonna change it out and get it fixed I hope. I also need to change the thermostat out so I can have some heat. Ill post back with results on that..
Another issue I am having is with the tranny. I think its bad but I'll see if I can explain what its doing.
When I am in drive. It goes but it acts like a slipping clutch and when I floor it then let off it will shift. But if I drive around in 1st or 2nd it is fine. I talked to my dad about it and since im pretty sure the E4OD is all electronic hes not sure.. I had an older chevy back in the day and it was doing the same thing and ended up just being a vacume line not connected. It acts just like if you were in a standard truck and kept it floored in a gear without shifting. Then I let off the pedal and it shifts to the next gear.... Any ideas?
It looks and smells fresh... but it does have too much in it. the guy that i bought from was really car illiterate. could having too much fluid in there be causing it to slip?
and the OD selector button on the gear selector doesnt work...
