Question Removing Cooling Fan

Got to looking around my Aerostar yesterday, found the plastic cooling fan was cracked in several places. Anyone have any hints or tips before I tear into this? I don't have the correct tools for pulling the clutch, I think I'll just get a new clutch while I'm at it and borrow tools from Autozone.

I'm going to replace the idler pulley bearings while I'm at it. Anyone have part numbers? Is the tensioner pulley bolt left or right hand thread? Thanks!

John

You will probably have to get a new fan from the dealer. You can order from a couple of dealers who give discounts.

I have no Aerostar expericence, but I did replace the clutch on my 91 explorer, which required the special tool.

The bolt should tighten in the direction you would put torque on it to release the spring when you change the belt.

The bearings are normally 6203's, but some of the pulleys are disposable, requiring nearly destroying them to remove the bearing. I would take the pulley and bearing with me to the parts store. Sometimes they have mulitple types listed for replacement, and not all of them will work.
