Ilya asked me to check out this post.

I think the '48 Mercury is the radio that is closest to the stock '48-50 truck radio. Like Ilya said, the only real difference is the bezels, ***** and mounting.

The truck radios used ***** from a '41 Ford car radio which used to be sold by the normal reproduction parts vendors. The car rosettes are clear, the trucks are brown:

The Mercury radios had smaller mounting ears on the sides, the truck radios had larger ones that bolted to the flanges welded in the dash, behind the speaker hole. Later '50s didn't have the flanges mounted behind the radio. I think it was a cost saving measure by Ford because I don't think many people ordered radios for their trucks back then.

Thanks Bob!!! I knew the radio was out of another Ford family product. I just didn't remember exactly which make and year.

Thanks Bob. Very interesting. I'll check that one against your diagrams when I get home.

Nice radio. If you decide to power it up, some of those old capacitors might explode. They sound a whole lot like a shot-gun. At least that was my experience with my antique floor radio.
