Been awhile since I have posted. Since I have spring fever already in WI I need to pull my transmission out of my '52 again. This time however I have a engine hoist to support the motor not a 2X4! Big mess the first time!
So with that in mind where are good mounting points for the chains on the engine. I for some reason really don't know where to bolt the chains up that will no cause any damage to the motor. I have 302 V8 to a C6 transmission in it. Do I need to remove the carb and get some sort of mounting plate to the intake manifold?
you can get a plate that bolts to the carb mounts from most of the part shops you will need the engine leveler,to angle things..if your lucky there are lifting hooks on the motor.. do you have a tranny jack ?? you can rent them..an'why was there a mess?? did you leave the converter on the trans or motor??or did it pee out the back??

It was coming out of both ends. The person I bought the truck from was nothing but a B.S. artist. I was able to see thru it for the most part but he failed to maintain the trans properly hence the reason for pulling it the first time. However when I got it back in it has internal issue with shifting so I'm gonna bite the bullet and pull it back out. Not really to difficult but i dont want to run into the problems I had doing it the first time.
The fluid dumping everywhere and pulling it out was not the problem. When I went to put it back in the engine somehow shifted and destroyed the motor mount on the drivers side and finding the correct mount was a joke.
well at least you know what to watch for ..with the converter in the trans it should't leak, and if you can find a spare drive shaft yoke it won't leek out the back..an' the the speedo drive..but you know about that..good luck
