Fords For Less
I checked with Kelly blue book to look up the value on my truck. I was surprised. This is how it broke down.
1997 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup Extended Cab Long Bed
Trade-In Value $6,445
Private Party Value $8,200
1997 Dodge 1500 Pickup Club Cab Long Bed
Trade-In Value $5,775
Private Party Value $7,460
1997 Ford F150 Super Cab Long Bed

What may be happening here is that to find a Chevy truck in "excellent" condition is harder to do at this mileage. If you take a GM, Ford, and Dodge trucks with the same miles, that the owners have taken equal care of, the Chevy will show more "wear". GM seems to use lighter weights of cloth and foam in the seats and cheaper plastic parts inside that wear and crack quicker. I know this is sweeping a broad brush, and "same treatment" is hard to judge, but this has been my experience for 30 years, looking at, riding in, and working on vehicles... I have owned GM, Ford, and Chrysler vehicles at various times. The Dodge trucks seem to show more interior wear than Ford also. The drivetrains also seem to show similar results... But I give Dodge trucks generally high marks for drivetrains.
