Weather 5 hours driving in snow and rain.
Problem: Speedo drops down to 0 and pops up again.
Radio goes off then on.
ABS light comes on and stays on.
Shut ignition off and restart and ABS light goes out.
ABS light comes on again. Shut vehicle off and restart and it has stayed off since.
Anybody out there have this experience????
Any input would be more than appreciated.
Is it possible some electronics picked up moisture???
Cheers
Bungi
Not sure about the radio, but the ABS and speedo problem at the same time could be the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) thats on top of the rear differential. Either the electrical connector got some moisture in it, the sensor is on its way out, or its dirty (metal fuzz stuck to the magnet in the sensor). Crawl under there and make sure its plugged in and the connector is clean.
Check up under the dash for water coming in from the windshield - the GEM is sensitive to water. It gets wet all sorts of screwy electrical symptoms can pop up. I've heard of a wet GEM causing the dome light to stay on!
I dont know if Superduty's are the same so....... On my old F-150, one of the wheel bearing units (mine was drivers side front) was getting bad, everytime it would rain or I crossed a creek etc.... my abs light would come on. My pedal would jump like abs was activated all the time! That being said the GEM gettin wet is a known issue on superduty's.
