My new home ( a work in progress...)

Our fearless leaders input won't matter. These guys a very serious about the wind farms. The top two companies in the area are signing 30+ year contracts for the turbins, maintance facilities etc. You can't find a place to rent for 40 miles, and the asking prices for homes for sale are way higher than other areas of Oregon. Wind generated power is here to stay.
I too am thinking seriously about retirement income.............

Which one? To the west of me is the one that Snowbunny works for, and to the north is the Sheppards Flat project. We have a couple on the radar site, and at night all you can see is a sea of red flashing lights. The new Sheppards wind farm is adding almost 400 more turbines. Like I said they are here to stay.

The 3 thousand acre ranch I've been living on for the past 2 years was just sold this summer for 2.8 million. Guess what, it's getting 25 turbines that pay $30,000 each per year...........Thats $750,000 PER YEAR........Not a bad deal!
If I can buy a couple of houses and make some money in my old age, why not......

While you have the walls inside unfinished is a good time to run blocking between the studs as fire-breaks (excellent for insurance premium cuts) and run conduits for wiring instead of just plain wire.
I hope you run seperate lines for DSL connections to a common center where they can be joined or run into a router. I'd wire it for a speaker system too, and run at least one extra coax cable to each room to make sure future updates can be done easily.
A line drop conduit from the attic down to each room would make a lot of later mods easier...
(Just thinkin' off the top of my little punkin' haid)

I've got enough material saved to put a nice roofed over deck across half the back of the house and I can finally install my hot tub I bought last summer........
Having the ability to do anything inside while it's open is a blessing I'm not going to treat lightly............
