Well I have been a member since 2007 and just wanted to express my thanks to the admins and forum members for what this site has done for me as for a learning experience and way to share what I have learned concerning my Excursion with this community. I just sold my X because of a need to downsize. My X has served me well and I already know that I probably will regret this decision but that is how the cookie crumbles. Anyway thanks again to all.
BTW a great fellow FTE member by the name of papadelogan bought it and I am sure he will enjoy many miles as I have had with this great machine.
Don't know about you, but I'd have to check in once in a while and make sure everyone is behaving like X owners should(kings). God's speed and best wishes.
On the phone with the very happy new owner as he's driving through Wyoming!
I'll tell you, Brenden is a great guy and he was as happy as a kid in a candy store. I handed him the keys at the airport and had to pry him out when we got to my house. I told him I expect updates on the beast from time to time. Glad I found someone who can appreciate what that machine really is.
Steward, your posts especially have helped me through the years especially concerning the front brakes. Thanks!
Man, what a great rig!! 1,000+ miles and not a single issue, other than me needing more sleep. I made it home about 3PM or so and will need to give her a thorough cleaning tomorrow.
Mostly the drive was great. Shortly after leaving Post Falls, ID with a full tank of fuel and a little food in me, I was in the Bitterroot range of the Rockies and it started raining. Not a very hard rain, but when it's close to freezing temps in mountains you don't know and it's pitch black... yeah, I didn't make good time, but I made it and the Ex never faltered once.
I already have plans to added gauges (pyro, trans, boost, and fuel pressure), swap in a fold-down console so it has the same 40/20/40 setup that is in my F250, and add HIDs and possibly 05+ headlights. It won't happen in the next few weeks, but they'll happen. I might get the tunes updated by Jody the next time he's in town, but after driving a rig with a regulated return, I'll be doing that on Nyx (see sig) pretty soon... maybe
I didn't get to see much of Idaho but if it's like Montana... WOW. I need to hit Powerball and buy some land... LOTS of it! I stopped in Casper, WY and saw this place:
Overall, I couldn't be more please. Jack is a great guy (even though he keeps spelling my name wrong! ) and put together and kept a great rig. Here she is in her new home parked next to Nyx.
Brendan, nice pics bro. I see you have a Queensland Heeler. I have 2 blue heelers myself.
I love Australian Cattle Dogs...they're a very good breed.
So, which rig are you taking to RRE?
Stewart
Hey Stewart -
I "inherited" that Heeler from an ex-g/f - she came to live me when the g/f had to move and could only take one dog - some weeks later when I tell her there is zero chance of us getting back together, she falls off the face of the earth. Not that that's a bad thing.
As for RRE.... I'll be waiting for an RRCO or RRMW. Most of my vacation time is already gone for a trip to Mexico and visiting the family at Christmas this year. It'd be nice, but it's not gonna happen unfortunately.
Duh, Brendan. Hey, I finally got it! Steward haha, ok Stewart then...There now we are all happy! Yup that X is slick. always amazed me how quiet that engine was with the regulated return and the fuel mods. BTW, that blue you have looks just like the dog I had years ago. They are the only dog I would own. My favorite was actually a red. Best dog I have EVER had.
BTW, Brendan, keep those pics coming as you continue to mod it.
Well, I warned you about how Tracie is about cleaning... she spent 7.5 hours yesterday cleaning her out. I guess with 6 kids there's bound to be plenty of spills over 9 years! (It wasn't filthy/nasty/worked over - she's just VEEERRRRYYYY clean!) We took her through an automated wash on Saturday evening but didn't really touch the outside fortunately. We woke up to 10° temps and frozen-over trucks from the mist that fell overnight. Today, they're both filthy again... on the outside!
She's a little nervous with me in the passenger seat but LOVES it. The heated seats, adjustable pedals... and it's a diesel! I wish you guys could hear her say "I'm excited to be driving a big diesel rig!!"
Here's the one pic I have with me. After spending the day outside in the cold scrubbing, vacuuming, shampooing, disinfecting, and detailing the Ex, I thought dinner at Joe's Crab Shack would be the way to finish off the day; and Tracie drove there & back. Below is a pic of her first parking job. Pretty darn good I'd say!!

Reason: Updated and added pic
Boertje, hope you enjoy the VW more than I did mine. Do some mods to it before you go bonkers with the lack of power
Papaperdelaledoeldoganel, that's a sweet akita! . Oh, and you need more "crap" in your garage... it's against the law to have that much space available
Fwiw, I wish I had never done '05 headlights on my F350. I had more/better light with the lenses you have with a relay harness and 80/100watt Hella bulbs (harness $75 and 'long life/1000hr bulbs $9/ea www.rallylights.com). The H13/9008 bulb in the '05-'07 headlights is an epic POS. After several sets of pigtails, I finally gave up and bought Electrosport dual-beam HID's. The HID's are awesome (proper focus, etc - these ain't cheep...), but the bulbs I'm using are about the same color - WHITE - and fill the road in just as well. I'd love to take a pic of both rigs, but I don't have a camera that will do it justice!
