Tempermental Ingition
A week or two ago I was cruzing down the freeway and the enigine just quit and the tach dropped to zero. It started back up with a lung and I haven't had much of a problem again. Then yesterday It continually stalled, and would start back up. I sat and watched the tach and it was bouncing between 500 and 1500 and then 0. Today it wont start at all. It will turn over but there seems to be no spark. Even with Starting Fluid right through the trottle body, there is no firing on any cylinder.
My knowlege and experience on the ingintino module is limited. Could this be a bad coil or ingnition module? Also what drives the tach, is it from the engine, transmition, or ingition module?
Thanks,
Ken
OK it's me again.
I went back down the road and checked the connectors on what I believe is the control modul, mounted right on the distributor, and it started.
I didnt' clean anything or do anything else. I'm glad I got it home, but I don't have much confidence in it. Could the Control Module be tempermental????I figure I could go buy a new module and coil, but I don't now it seems to be running fine
Does anyone have any suggestions??????
Thanks,
Ken
It is just frustrating because now it seems to run fine, but I'm going to go out in about an hour and try some more driving to find out if it happens again.
On a similar issue on someone elses truck (Topic #6890) you mentioned something about an air bypass valve. Could that be part of the problem.
It is just frustrating because now it seems to run fine.
Thanks,
