How do I fill the colant system?

Please don't laugh! Truck is finally ready for a spin, but I need to fill system. No coolant in it period. Thank you, C

You fill the degas/overflow bottle, start the engine, keep adding 50/50 mix of coolant & distilled water (if not using premix) until the degas bottle fills
to the full/cold level. Run the engine for a bit longer, turn on the heater,
continue to add coolant mixture as needed. Sometimes there will be an air bubble trapped in the system... when all looks good, put the cap on the degas bottle & take it for a spin. Check the level a couple more times as more air may purge over the next couple of days.

You can avoid air pockets by pulling the heater hose that goes to the passenger side of the block first and fill until you see coolant. Of if you are replacing the t stat fill until coolant gets up to the top of the water pump then install the stat and housing.
