Hey all, I am having a problem with my 1yr old reman 302 from Ford. My problem is this, I just had to put in 3 1/2 quarts of oil and I just changed the oil 1500 miles ago!!!!! I was thinking about it and I now recall that when I have changed the oil on this motor I always seem to put in more than comes out. My question is what the heck would cause a remanufactured 302 to drink this much oil with only 12k on it?? I checked it over very carefully and found no leaks anywhere. I have never smelled oil burning when I am driving or idling either, but that tail pipe is kinda far back there. Please share some ideas as to what can cause this. Thanks in advance. Oh yeah, I will be calling Ford in the morning to find out about the warranty on this.
That doesn't sound very good. I hope you documented your oil changes, that will help you with your warranty. I would'nt waste any time, get the truck in to ford to get a look if it's under warranty.Otherwise start by doing a compression check yourself for starters.
This does not sound very good at all, I recommend you take your truck in and have a Ford tech check it over. There is absolutley no reason for this engine to be burning oil already.
I am now counting my blessings!! I spoke to the dealer today and he let me know the engine is under warranty for 2 yrs/ 24k. I am very happy. I have to call tomorrow to make an appointment. Thanks for the replies!!
