I have not yet installed an EGT gauge and am curious if there is a specific oil temperature that I should look for before shutting down a hot engine. With EGT gauges I was told EGT temps below 400 degrees was preferable. Thanks in advance...
your oil temperature will be pretty stable. You would be waiting a long time to shut your truck off if you waited for the oil temp to reach a specific level. A couple of minutes ( 2 - 4) after pulling hard in the summer would be lots of cool down. EGT gauge on a stock truck with this technology is a waste of time from a functional point of view.
I would agree...I do let mine idle for a minute after pulling the fiver...old habits die hard.
The computers are so sophisticated on this truck that an EGT problem trend would be recognized and a defuel event would occur to lower EGT's. You would have to be a dedicated gauge watcher to spot the trend before the computer. I am referencing a stock truck...tune it and who knows...
