4x4 problem
I took my 2009 F-150 4x4 out to play in the snow today. Upon returning home, tried to back into the driveway. Could not shift into reverse. I could only get the shift lever to neutral. Had all the foward gears until linkage? thawed enough to finally get to go backward.
Anyone else ever have this trouble?

Sounds like ice or compacted snow somewhere in the system. I know with a Bronco we owned, sometimes the 4X4 transfer motor would bind up if snow was deep. As soon as the heat from truck would melt snow/ice it would operate. Chris

I believe there is a TSB for this problem. THey add a small shield around the linkage connection. Depending on your dealer you maybe able to get them to install the shield with out actually seeing the problem. Others may make you wait untill it happens again and a tech can see the problem first hand. Give them a call and see if they will do it for you. Good luck.

Many dealers wont tell you there is a TSB for a specific problem. Most manufacturers don't consider TSBs to be public information.
Many times if you walk into a dealership and say, do TSB #X they will look at you and laugh. TSBs are generally meant to help the service people diagnose problems easier.
