Greetings
Picked up a 2008 F350 SRW Crew Cab for hauling the travel trailer. It is pretty experienced for it's age, 180000 km (approx 110000 miles). Used as a work truck in the oil patch up here in Canada. Motor and interior in really good shape, no major concerns, body is a bit beat up but nothing that a few weekends of TLC, some POR 15, and paint won't cure. Just got a really good deal on the truck (looked for over 1.5 years for a V10 superduty crew cab short box that was not priced $5 below original cost regardless of age and mileage).
Since it is off warranty for a few km's I am likely going to do most of the fluid changes and maintenance myself.
There are a couple of issues that I need to sort out and prepare for before the weather gets good enough for me to crawl under this beast and get my hands dirty.
1) What is the correct size of tool to get for disconnecting the fuel filter couplings?
2) Which RTV sealant is best for the front and rear diffs?
3) Is there an easy way to clean the air vents and air exchanger for the cab (their a bit dirty and keep blowing out some dust)?
4) Why do I want to grunt (aka Tim the tool man Taylor style) whenever I pull up to a 1/2 ton and look down on their little vehicles?
5) How do I explain to my wife that "yes our gas mileage will not improve much over our SUV when towing but I will be able to pass most vehicles going up hill when we go to the rockies?
Great info on this board and I look forward to your ideas.
