Hey guys new to the Forum and my 6.0. Bought an 06 F250 6.0 PSD No mods, used and bout three weeks later fuel system problems and a blown injector. No big deal bout a good warranty to cover my butt so its all being fixed now. So anyway i want to have this truck for a while any suggestions on fuel additives, oil, and things like that would be great. I want to take care of this truck and make it my baby. Thanks guys.
Regular maintenance is required on these trucks. On time fuel filter changes, oil filter and oil changes are key to making these things last.
An anti-gel additive for fuel in the winter is also needed because you really can't count on the fuel supplier to make sure that the fuel cloud point is low enough for cold weather.
Restricted fuel filters either from not changing them on time or from jelled fuel will drastically reduce injector life.
i have an 03 6.0 with 193,000 miles.i have replaced only the icp sensor and the alternator.i run rotella t6 5wx40 oil at 7500 mile intervals, and 5 gallons of kerosene, plus 4 ozs of power service silver cetane and 4ozs of wally world tech 3 ashless 2 stroke oil to every fill up.works for me.
i have been playing with ford diesels since 1983 with the first 6.9's i can't tell you why the kero works from a scientific point of view. but my playing around with different fuel mixes has lead me to this and it's working great on my real early 03.it runs great ,no turbo or injector problems.egr is still original.
