I am looking at putting 33x12.5x15 tires on a set of new rims. What size rim would I need for these tires to fit without rubbing issues.also will I need to get a different offset than factory?
you can use ur factory rims without problem, but 10" would be best....probly around 4" backspacing but u might still rub, im not sure. 3.5 back spacing might alleviate the rubbing problem
Certainly not less than an 8" rim, I agree 10" would be better for even tire wear but might cause clearance problems. If these are mud tires, you might *want* an 8" rim to get the outer lugs off the pavement so as to make the tire quieter, the tradeoff is faster wear on the center of the tread.
I would run the 33s on the factory wheels, but thats just me. In my opinion any wheel that is wider or that creates more offset so the tires stick out more makes the truck more prone to road wander and it doesn't track as well down the highway.
I had 15x8 Eagle Alloy 589 with slightly more offset and my truck did not drive nearly as good as it does with the stock 15x7.5 wheels.
15x10s with 4 inches or 3.75 inch back spacing. Mine don't rub anywhere, and I only did a bumper trim.
EDIT. Best bet is look at the tire manufacturers approved rim specs. If you have road hazard/ tire warranty, they could deny it if you have them on improper sized wheels.
Here's a couple pics of my previous truck. 95 F150 4" lift 33x12.5x15 tires on 15x10 rims. It drove fine down the road. If you are going to be offroading where you will be airing down your tire pressure very low, a 15x8 rim will help keep your bead seated.
I'd suggest a 15x10" as well. I run the 15x10" Eagle Alloys 058's with 3.625" of backspacing with my 33x12.50's. The truck has a 2" lift approximately, and I have no rubbing or wandering issues.
