Just recently I lost my reverse lights, nothing signifigant happened just got told at work that I had no back up lights, well so far I have rewired to the sensor, replaced the sensor in the tranny, and replaced the bulbs
Are they grounded out (no corrosion, breaks, dirt)? Thats one of the first culprits I hit right away back on the bed.. It gets the messy end up business!
Ohhh... man... Now you got me thinking, and I lost my thought..
I want to say that there is a black wire that connects to the socket and is bolted (phillips screw actually) to the interior body of the bed. its in there a ways.
Strange though if it were the grounds, I tried narrowing down from the front back to the lights and things that would make both lights go out at the same time
I have a 1980 f250 as well as my powerstroke and and same thing happened to me on the '80. i decided to take the tail lights off and clean all the grime off of em and i replaced the bulbs, it still didn't work.. so i thought about it for awhile and after almost going crazy, i decided to check my fuse box. turns out it was just a blown fuse.. im sure you already checked this, but just in case..

hope that helps.
That one came across my mind too, you arent alone! LOL!
Well Dave I think you may have solved it, I was doubtful at first because all other bed lights worked but I checked it and the truck side of the connector has 4 male prongs on the top half and 3 male prongs on the bottom half, or opposite depending on which way you orient it, and the bed side of the connector has the 3 female ports to match the 3 male prongs but only has 2 female ports where it should have 4, though I cant figure out how yet. (All 4 ports are there but the conductor sleeves are gone out of 2, they could be on the male prongs but it did not look like it though it was dark) Let me know if this makes sense
