my rear window quit working probably about 4 yrs ago. i have to push the switch multiple times to make it move. then when it does move it only happens half way. i wouldn't think with i being closed that anything got into the track to make it hang up. read other threads about people experiencing this, but there wasn't to many ideas except clean the track(which i think should be clean).
I'd say you've either got a problem with the switch or the motor that pulls/pushes the cable. Check the wiring for obvious problems. I doubt it's the fuse but check it for dirt/corrosion just to be sure. If it was blown you wouldn't get any movement ever.
Check power to the switch, verify power coming out of the switch. Then check power at the motor. I suppose it could be a cable issue too but I wouldn't think so.
I had a similar issue when I bought my truck. Thw window was frozen and I coulnt hear the switch or motor activate. With the help of a friend I gently assisted the window while he activated the switch...it would barely move. I cleaned out the track with a swab and some alchohol pads and then I got some Sil-Lube from NAPA and took a swab and gently coated the cable while working the window open and close. I had to assist the window probably 10 times before it would open and close on its own. Today it works fine. I have heard that the cable can break, but you should be able to notice that.
when i had a similar issue it turned out to be the drivers side master switch...
i couldnt make the passenger side rear window go up after it got stuck down on winters night with either the switch at that door or at the drivers door..
nice part of replacing the master switch is you get all new buttons for each window and power door lock button to..
