UPDATE ON 51

Its been at the upholstry shop for 8 days and still not done. Driving me crazy not having at the shop to work on. Made a punch list that needs done when i get it back. I was building a air breather shaped like the hood But it didn't work out so good .So i'm thinking a arrowhead would be diff. This i can do. Do yall think two 3'' k&n cone shaped oil breathers mounted on the back would work for air breathers ?

My personal thought is it would be akin to puting a couple cocktail straws in your nose and trying to breathe through them. There's very limited surface area on oil filler breathers. They aren't designed to flow enough air to feed the intake needs of a 351. It's better to have too large a filter than too small.

My 2c.

Isn't it funny the things we remember? I certainly don't ever remember that conversation, but that's OK.

I guess it all goes back to fixing other peoples problems for too many years. I just try to help nip some of these things in the bud. I knew a so-called hot rod shop owner who thought he knew everything about air flow and race engines, etc. (not to mention everything else) A guy brought his vintage Alfa Romeo road race car to him for a high flow engineered induction system. This little car had an 1800cc 9000rpm little screamer engine, and was very cool. The shop owner designed the most convoluted tube from the headlight opening under the fender, around the back of the engine and to the intake on the other side. In the front of all that, he put this little K&N cone filter on it. His thinking was it's a little motor and it didn't need half as much air as his Chevy 350, so it should be more than adequate. It wasn't even close and the car owner was very displeased, to say the least.

Anyway, long story short, I'd just hate to see you go to all the effort to build a really special custom air box that won't let your engine rev much above idle. And really, I hope I'm not known as the forum nay-sayer. I honestly don't mean to be.
