Which New Motor?

As you may recall , ive had my headgaskets blow three times within less than 24 months.

The block has issues as do the heads. The heads have already been machined once and or no good.

My options are:

1. Cut losses and get new truck

2. A new drop in with upgraded pistons, head gaskets, studs, seasoned block, new heads, cam, enshrouded valves $9320 Canadian not including labour

3. Brand new fully forged stroker $18,000-24,000 Canadian

I will not do a reman. I have lots of money in the truck it's hard to decide. If I hadn't put the mods on I have it would be a no brained for me. New truck!

Any thoughts? Thanks

From what I have heard, you can get a new crate motor for 6 or 7 thousand american. If it were me I would go that route. Sounds like you got a bad one.

check out the black mamba. heard alot of 7.3 guys like them and they have a nice one out for the 6.0 now. just giving you an idea. its around 7000. could be the one your talking about but like i said its a sweet motor. i would have done that over the studs if i would have known about it being that it comes studded

My head gaskets blew on my 2004 excursion with 175,000 on it. I love the truck so decided to replace the engine instead of just fixing something and having something else go wrong down the road. I looked at all the options and buying direct from Ford was by far the best deal. I bought a complete engine minus the alternator and starter. I came with a two year unlimited mile warranty. I also put in a new radiator and inner-cooler. The best thing was I got all the latest updates from Ford on design and programs. The job took me two days to complete once the old engine was removed. I fired up and ran better than my old engine! I did some other things at the same time since the engine was removed. The total was about $8500.00.

Going with the new drop in with forged pistons etc.

3 year warranty

And I may switch to ELC when they are ready to filler' up after install.

I heard that if I flush the system every 2 years (approx.) there shouldn't be any issues with ELC and any copper etc.

Any comments on the ELC?
