#62
Still twisting and turning on lifes highway........I really wish I could stay home and get something done on this truck!!! Working out of town with NO shop............SUX! I did manage to score a 4 speed tilt column and got it installed this trip home. Need to replace the upper bearing in it and replace the turn signal switch. I at least got the parts ordered! Maybe next time I'm home I can at least get that done! Pebbles aint dead yet!

Finally!!!! I made some progress on this project. Had a couple of good days recently that I actually made some progress!!! I'm stoked!!! I got the old 351M engine pulled out, The NP 435 transmission pulled out, and the NP205 transfer case pulled. I got the NP205 bolted up to the ZF5 transmission that I am going to use behind the Cummins for a test fit. This required that I modify the rear flange on the ZF5. Not a big deal to do but kind of nerve racking taking a Sawzall to the transmission that you want to use! LOL I then radiused the corners on the cuts I made in the flange with a die grinder to relieve any stress points. I then removed the NP205 from the ZF5 and got it on my transmission jack to get it in place in the truck. It is now in place and sitting on the mount on the crossmember. That is where I quit for tonight. I realized about the time I started typing this that my FTE membership has expired. I will get it renewed here shortly and start adding pics as I move forward on my build. From what I am seeing now and the measurements I took once the transmission was in place.......I'm thinking that things are going to work out pretty much like I had hoped!!!

Made more good progress yesterday. Got the engine in the engine bay and bolted up to the trans. It took some repeated juggling to find its new "home" but I believe I have it where it needs to be. The only mods to the body that I can see at this point is just a small bit of trimming on the drivers side of the trans tunnel flange on the floorboard. I need about 1/2" more for transmission clearance. I will get some pics posted this weekend.

Found this when I got the old trans out........repairable.......will just section out the rust and weld new iron back in
Out with the old.......damn near dropped it on the core support.......One of the bolt holes in the intake manifold that I attached the chain to pulled out the rusty old threads........I was in a hurry and didn't check things out like I should have,,,,,,,,,,
OK all.......I'm back........got a ton of progress on this will start posting on it again ( I hope) LOL
