Okay so.... I have made several post in regards to a variety of suspension related questions. I am now putting a shopping cart together on Autozone.com to figure out exactly what I am getting and doing. In this shopping cart is also my wheel bearings front and back as well as seals and a new Diff cover... Mine is rusted beyond repair.
Anyway, I am having some hang ups (no pun intended). I want to get the read 3 inch drop shackles. I notice on the rear shocks I have a choice of shocks for standard suspension height as well as lowered. Now is the lowering shackle going to make enough of a drop that I will need the lowered suspension shocks or will the stock height shocks work just fine?
I have looked over the coil springs, and I am curious if the ones I have selected would b the correct ones. I guess I will just have to ask customer support or take a trip to the local store and ask a rep.
I am considering buying all of my brackets and hangers from an FTE member for 150 shipped which seems like a good deal to me. However I will have to buy all my bolts from Fastenall or some other source if anyone has any suggestions. I will most likely go with the Energy Suspension bushing kit as those will all need to be replaced if purchasing used brackets. I also noticed on one site that there is a 2.5 inch rear spring hanger and a 3 inch.. Just curious as to which one would have been stock.
Also I posted a thread previously about how to determine if my truck in fact does, or does not have the towing package. I am still completely lost on this one. My truck does have a trailer brake controller. I believe the controller to be aftermarket and that doesn't necessarily constitute the truck having a towing package.
Also, one other thing... This wheel bearing says it replaces the bearing and the seal ? But it also says its for the Sterling axle. What is that? I know I have an 8.8 with 3.55 gears and LSD is this the "Sterling axle" ?
Well ill answer what i know the shock and coil spring shold have a height and "loaded" height on them you should beable to figure in out from there. Deffinatly go with polyurathane bushings if ya plan on keepin the truck for a while. they just use normal grade 8 bolts. i think there the width depends on 2wd vs 4wd. i would look into a diff cover with a drain and fill plug because then you can change fluid more often consider it cheap insurence for the rear end. yours is not a sterling rear end they put those behind 3/4 and 1 tons they where a 10 1/4" in a semi floting and fully floating axle yours is neither.
o ya and the tow package question to me fords tow package for f150s was the low mount swing away mirrors (the mickey mouse ears) and factory overload springs with something of a 3.55 and heavyer with the wire harnesses for the trailer 7wire not 4 under the rear left side and the harness for brake controller under the dash. also the frame is a 150u250 with sway bar this is like on my 94 wich was ordered by the local telephone company as hd and im 2md owner
