quick question
i am trying to decypt the door data tag (painted over ) any refrence guides available ? i searched online and came up with just a vin decoder .
I got conflicting info on the y code engine . some say 360 some say 390 . previous owner said 390 . might have to pull block id. thanks for link and decode

Mesuring the stoke is the only way to tell the difference. Blocks are the same. The data I posted is the data from FORD parts books. Numberdummy will chime in a if he sees this and correct any mistakes and add info as needed but Y is 360 and H is 390 for this year.
...and many folks don't know the difference between a 360 and a 390 as they appear identical, and will call either one a 390 as that's the better-known engine. Only difference between them is the longer stroke of the 390 so it's impossible to tell externally by just looking.
If it's original, the engine ID tag should still be attached to the intake manifold by the bolt that holds the coil, it will have the displacement right on it.
thanks tiger dan , i'll check for the tag tonight .
i was bumbed out by the pebble beige paint , i thought it was wimbeldon white . that would have made my three old fords all wimbeldon white
65 mustang fastback
66 mustang vert
68 f100 (pebble beige)
another question .
i have three fuel tanks ?
1 behind seat
2 in front of each rear wheel well under bed , you fill them through the wheel well .
it also has a 3 way fuel switch on the floor board on drivers side . with a metal stamped plate with main, left, right . is this a factory option ? i'll snap a pic tonight .
